iNOVA Media Lab is built upon a decade of collaboration between The University of Texas at Austin, NOVA University and University of Porto. This strategic collaboration has laid a solid foundation on which to deepen pedagogical, research, and practice-based explorations of digital media innovations. iNOVA Media Lab, based at NOVA FCSH, serves as the main hub for the PhD Program in Digital Media, nurturing a culture of innovation, creativity, entrepreneuship and mutual support among graduate students, faculty and industry partners.

The PhD Program in Digital Media entails a full year of organized courses, including theoretical, methodological and laboratory-based work.  Roughly in the middle of the second year, students present their dissertation research ideas, with the intention of spending their remaining two years working on their original research.

The program particularly encourages candidates working at the intersections of digital media arts, sciences and technologies, and aiming at interdisciplinarity. iNOVA Media Lab is equipped with state of the art technological resources that are indispensable to its high laboratorial intensity in the prosecution of experimental research.
