90 Segundos de Ciência wins Acesso à Cultura 2018 prize

90 Segundos de Ciência, a production of NOVA FCSH, ITQB NOVA, Antena1 and Novartis, won the Access to Culture Award 2018 in the category Intellectual Accessibility. Many thanks to the jury that distinguished us among so many candidates with such relevant work in culture and accessibility. Thanks also to the hundreds of researchers who have shared their work with us so generously – without you there was no program. 90 Segundos de Ciência mission is to promote the scientific culture by making accessible to a wide audience the research done in Portuguese.

The jury considered: “Intellectual barriers are the barriers that are certainly broader and more neglected. They are also often (or imposed) exclusively on publics, visitors and readers who ‘do not perceive’, ‘do not understand’, ‘ (and Scientific Culture) is essential to understand and read the world, to go beyond. It is still one of the areas where access is, by its nature, difficult. 90 Segundos de Ciência enables this understanding. It allows the decoding of the contents, access to information. It does so in an amplified way (…) being transmitted nationally and available on the Web. This is a project that not only breaks down barriers to approach to scientific culture, but stimulates curiosity and discovery, central objectives in the Intellectual Accessibility. For these reasons, the jury unanimously decided to award the Culture Accessibility – Intellectual Accessibility Award to the 90 Seconds Science project. “
